The GPS Synchro type GPS signal receiver is a device created for the purpose of precise time synchronisation in electrical power protection automation devices.

In particular, it is used in protection, automation systems, recording of disturbances, events and power quality. It can also be used wherever access to a source of a stable and accurate local time standard is required, i.e. during time synchronisation in: measuring systems, computer networks, industrial equipment and in the registration of phenomena in distributed facilities.
The task of the device is the continuous conversion of the signal coming from the receiver of a GPS global satellite navigation system into an output signal compliant with the RS485 standard, carrying encoded accurate and stable information about the current time and date in one of three formats. These are: the NMEA navigation protocol including the 1PPS synchronisation pulse, the IRIG-B standard and the Frankfurt clock DCF77.
